2009 - Bring it on !

Post by Maggie »

What's it going to be like? .......Any predictions anyone?

Will we suffer a Depression?
How will Homecoming pan out?*
Will Andy Murray win Wimbledon?
Will we qualify for the World Cup?
Will we bomb Iran?

Dear Moderation Team; please be aware that this post is an attempt to start a sensible discussion and not meant to be provocative (actually my suggested list of rules which you pulled the other day wasn't meant to be either but I respect your right to pull my post).

Mags
* I read yesterday that the Homecoming team have put something on the internet where you can post any births, marriages and deaths in your family to build a picture of the worldwide Scottish Community. Its a bit restrictive because you have to have a parent or grandparent born in Scotland to qualfy to add your details.

I predict 2009 will not be a particularly good year to be a Palestinian civilian.

Can anyone predict what the dance will be like in the hall tomorrow night? I'm thinking of going along but not sure who will be there. Is there a bar or is it BYOB?

I predict that everyone, regardless of colour, religion, or nationality, will get a little older (probably about 365 days) unless they pop their clogs somwhere along the way - you can't get a much safer prediction than that, although I am open to other suggestions.

Not too good either for an Israeli family living within rocket or mortar range of Gaza.

The body count would suggest the Palestinian civilians are getting the brunt of it. :(

Didn't this used to be your old stompping ground before you took to hammering the Scots?

Are you allowed to say something like this?

Actually, regarding Obama, I am a believer one man can make a difference. I know I felt the same sense of optimism when Tony Blair was voted in, but the spin and bare faced lies we were all victims of, shattered that belief. Similarly I thought Alex Salmond was the man to do it for Scotland but things seem to be stagnating there. As for the gathering I feel its a nice marketing ploy for Alba, that works well as a smokescreen for the SNP, but I'm not convinced its going to do anything to improve the lives of Scots. It reeks too much of all that old romanticism that has stopped Scotland moving forwards for so long.

As you know I'm a very peacable chappie and would not want to rattle her vicarliness's cage what with this new regime in place. Anyway, I've got nothing against either the Pirate (or the Viking for that matter). Seventh, however, is in a different category altogether, what with his propensity to insult the deceased and desire to reignite class war. Interestingly I just rechecked his posts on the controversial Christmas Tree thread and notice that he (or a.n.other) has edited out his phrases refering to one lady as being gin-soaked and another's inability to keep her knickers on. That being said I hereby declare peace with, even, Seventh in the spirit of the new dawn on our Forum and in Washington today.
:)
Best wishes to Barry Obama.

Psychic World says:
  • There will be an assassination attempt on Barack Obama
There will be serious tensions within Europe as the Euro free falls with both France and Germany threatening to leave.
Gordon Brown will be forced out of office and an early election will be called.
A number of C of E bishops and senior ecclesiastical leaders convert to Catholicism simultaneously threatening to undermine the very existence of the church.
There is a world wide rekindling of socialist ideals and a major swing back towards communism in Russia.
There will be a major terrorist attack in Dubai
There will be a serious pollution problem in France – possibly in Paris with the contamination of the River Seine. Also a dam will burst in the Far East – maybe China.
Britain sees many of its top companies go bust and in particular holiday firms, aviation companies and the building companies.
Victoria Beckham will become pregnant with a long awaited daughter. And Jordan will announce she’s pregnant too.
There will be a knife attack on a top celebrity
Seil Blubber says - Happy New Year, good to be back. Some changes round here I see - well, who could have predicted that?

Such a good post I thought I might bring it nearer the top of the page with my first contributution.

Will we suffer a Depression?
Only if the media continue to tell us how bad things are and people start panicking.

How will Homecoming pan out?
Well yes there will be some coming home especially now Sterling is worth the same as bubble gum.

Will Andy Murray win Wimbledon?
Well he could but I don't think he will for 5 years or so.

Will we qualify for the World Cup?
That is just not funny. No we won't

Will we bomb Iran?
After the more light hearted with the exception of depression this question comes last and it is the most important one of all. People need to understand Iran is not Iraq in terms of military. Iran with the help of the UK and the US couldn't defeat Iran. We overthrew and installed puppets in Iran to try and keep control. When will people understand IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH US. Just because Iran will not price their oil in $$$'s the US can't stand them. Not forgetting Israel this same nonsense about Iran wanting to wipe Israel off the map. He never said it. Our own university professors have translated the text from Farsi and far from this he offers solutions to the middle east problems. I don't know if it is allowed but there is a link below. Worth a look before we go blindly into the 3rd and final world war for the sake of Israels fight.

Some prediction from seil blubbers psychic

Barry o Balmcake that ones easy.As a potential force for good somebody will want to assasinate him
probably initially a character assasination and if that doesnt work the alternative is the American way.
What else can you expect from a country whose constitution insists on
the"Right to Arm Bears" and presumably think like them.

WW3 hope not but history teaches us we learn nothing from history.

Whilst initially I had sympathy for the Israelis
(I have visited Bergen and Belsen)
surely if they behave as they do ref Palestine they make it difficult
for a sane thinking world to take their intentions seriously.

Andy Murray ? Who Cares!!!!!

At what point did you have sympathy? You mean 60 years ago or more recently?

The thing that makes it difficult for me is that there is overwhelming audio visual evidence in "real time" as it were as to what is really going on as regard the Palestinian situation. To say that we understand why Israel is doing it we would need to be of that same brainwashed mindset.

Someone recently said to me and meant it "I don't know why the Palestinians don't just leave their homes and flee to other Countries" Firstly they are not allowed to move outside their own borders in ANY direction, secondly this is exactly what the intention in the future will be. Make it so unbearable that Israel will allow borders to open for a limited time to let people get out, therefore taking the rest of what is left of the 22% of what was Palestine.

I reckon more people will turn to drink. Having read the last two posts on this thread, I conclude I haven't been getting enough.
