Regardless of the length of time we have to put up with the road works, it WILL stop, whereas the mincing and moaning of our fellow "locals" does not. Consider that!!

I'm looking forward to it all being finished it`l be a huge improvement once it`s done so no matter if it takes as they say another year as long as it`s
done properly then so be it.

Come on chap`s and dudette`s lets stop the xenophobic comments some people are not nice it has nothing to do with their genetics.

woops - sorry about that little mistake. I did, of course, mean "site". I don't, however, understand the apparent glee exhibited :!: :?:

Another local moanin' minnie in the OT today! Keeps up the impression that we are all progress-resenting dinosaurs! And totally exaggerating the environmental consequences, which in the long term should be totally positive. Dear oh dear.......

I worked on some of the big gas pipelines that were pushed through Aberdeenshire in the 70s - reinstatement was very good and today you would have no idea apart from the odd marker. Even the Somme recovered eventually . . . and some areas will actually benefit from the new landscaping. If the actual sewage system works and there are no extended power cuts then I don't see any long term environmental consequences other than an improvement in water quality.

I hear they are going to start on the monorail next - now THAT is worth a little disruption!

While I agree about your view of a future lack of negative environmental consequence, Nick, I really have no idea what you're referring to as "the monorail"..........please explain for the benefit of us dummies.

Monorail

(I commend to you particularly the words of the last 4 singers in the Monorail song below)

Lyle Lanley: Well, sir, there's nothing on earth
Like a genuine,
Bona fide,
Electrified,
Six-car
Monorail! ...
What'd I say?
Ned Flanders: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
Patty+Selma: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: That's right! Monorail!
[crowd chants `Monorail' softly and rhythmically]
Miss Hoover: I hear those things are awfully loud...
Lyle Lanley: It glides as softly as a cloud.
Apu: Is there a chance the track could bend?
Lyle Lanley: Not on your life, my Hindu friend.
Barney: What about us brain-dead slobs?
Lyle Lanley: You'll all be given cushy jobs.
Abe: Were you sent here by the devil?
Lyle Lanley: No, good sir, I'm on the level.
Wiggum: The ring came off my pudding can.
Lyle Lanley: Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
All: [singing] Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
All: Monorail!
Lyle Lanley: Once again...
All: Monorail!
Marge: But Main Street's still all cracked and broken...
Bart: Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!
All: [singing] Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!
[big finish]
Monorail!
Homer: Mono... D'oh!
