Looks like it's all gone horribly wrong . . .
.
What's going on?
Well, I've just spoken to one of the goblins and they told me the tar has sunk on just about every bit of previous chicanery and the Council have insisted they dig them all up and redo them.
When I suggested that this was madness and surely the Council could just give us a voucher for vehicle repairs and leave it until after the sewage the pointy eared one replied that we were doomed. He seemed to think that once the sewage works got under way the road would be virtually unuseable.
Could be a poor season for Highland Arts if he's right.

Hi from a newbie in exile.Whats so terrible about a person willing to re invent the tin church.nobody else wanted it it was an old and run down eyesore.even if the only person to appreciate it was not from the local community sacriledge, they have done a good job and one tv programme wont make that great a demand on the area although for me i would love to have kept it a secret.

What was that all about teddy?????????????????
As for the state of the roads, god knows how long we've been putting up with this only to have to go through it all again and then again!!! The council must have money to burn redoing all the water bits - why dont they spend a bit more of their cash and start to fill in some of the potholes, if thats what their called cos one day soon were going to loose an entire coach party down one of them - and someone wont be happy about that

I.N.Y.L.S.B...................
The goblins tried a new trick last night - all their barriers round the holes blew over in the wind so that anyone unlucky enough to have to drive along the road late last night or early this morning had to drive over the barriers which were all over the road plus look out for the deep holes which had no surrounds. It's a farce - why can't they put down tar properly in the first place? And when they do have to retar, why can't they redig the hole then retar it immediately? And why can't the council fix our potholes properly? Also yesterday the metal plates across the road at 2 places were removed for a while. Why?? We already have at least one islander suffering disability through a crushed vertebrate caused by the jarring while her car fell down a megapothole. What value are we getting for our council tax?
Awful, awful, diabolical, horrible, nasty and downright dangerous state of the road. How can a public road be left to get so bad? And then be worked on and still be no better. It's like they are deliberately letting it go to ruin as a means of putting people off going down to the island. Who upset the Council???
In fact, out of all the tens of thousands of miles of road I cover each year, I can't think of a rougher B-road anywhere, except in somewhere like Russia or Albania. These Commie politicians we have, have wrecked our country.
I'm going to write to a decent politician, like Jeremy Clarkson

Yes
Yes, not many people realise that Argyll and Bute Council is under Communist controlThese Commie politicians we have

Is Argyll and Bute run by communist? I thought this could only happen in my country but I was wrong. I lived under control of Commie politicians for a while and I'm sorry but the roadworks were better organised than this what I'm experiencing here.
However, it could be worse, we have trees growing in middle of the road.

GOOD DAY MY FELLOW PATRONS.....WE ARE THE PEOPLE....???????
oh dear spikeyman. Your in depth knowledge of the National Anthem (extending even to the sixth verse) must come of years of study of those perceived wrongs which have led to the chip on both shoulders character trait.
General Wade, my point was, quite simply built our first roads, they were bloody effective, and repaired when needed. Hence; bring along someone like him and we will achieve victory over the potholes and goblins.
We should be more like the Welsh (deriv. waelsch = slave in anglo saxon). They don't spend their time whinging about songs written 250 years ago but just get on with things - winning the Six Nations, getting to Wembley, building a dynamic modern economy in Cardiff, and not feeling inferior to the bigger neighbour....and their population is smaller than ours (bang goes one of our excuses oft quoted by the chip on shoulders brigade)

Actually, I vote we keep the potholes. I reckon we should tell the council that we don't want them repaired, that we want the roads to get so bad no vehicles can use them to stop the large tourist buses coming down and to save us all the rise in fuel and frequesnt repair costs. We can set up stables at Kilninver, leaving ours cars to horseride home. Stables could also be set up on Seil and Luing creating employment and providing environmentally friendly "horse-taxi" services. Lots of manure for the gardens too.
What a perfect solution!
