Hall Fund 'Pennies Make Pounds' Appeal

SEIL ISLAND COMMUNITY HALL CHARITY

PENNIES MAKE POUNDS APPEAL

November 5th is National Lottery Day. Seil Island Community Hall Charity has recently received £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund towards the cost of building a new hall and is celebrating the day with a series of events in the current hall – a children’s party in the afternoon, a wine and nibbles reception at 8.00 p.m. followed by a ceilidh. The committee also think this is a fitting occasion to launch a new fund raising appeal “Pennies make Pounds”.

“Pennies makes Pounds” involves all households on the island in saving 1p, 2p or 5p coins over the next year. A flyer explaining the scheme will be distributed to each household on the island with the November edition of the Seileachan. With a modest target of £8 per household per year the appeal could raise over £2500.

In addition the “Pennies make Pounds” appeal goes out beyond local residents to their friends and relations, local businesses, those from the surrounding area who have ever attended events in the hall, visitors – in fact everyone who has a stake in ensuring that a hall continues as a focus for community events on Seil Island. We would also appeal to all those who access the Seil Island community website. Although the appeal lasts a year on the island, the committee would greatly value anyone making this part of their charity giving by collecting small coins for even a short period of time. It all adds up and could take us well over the £2500..

The appeal ends on 31st October 2006. There will be quarterly collections for those who live on the island. For those who live further afield the committee would appreciate cheques made out to:
Seil Island Community Hall Charity” for the amount collected
and sent to:
