ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FORUM

Post by NickB »

No-one is using the recycling forum at all . . . but several of the threads on here have been on environmental issues - windfarms, bridges, fishing, National Park, wildlife crime - to name just a few.

I am proposing to scrap the (unused) Recycling forum and replace it with a broader Environmental Issues forum.

Let me know what you think.

45 views for the above post and only nine votes. :banghead

You can't see the poll results until you vote - then they show up.

Nick, I fear that taking away environmental issues from the Seil Chat forum will just fragment and marginalise this forum, which, in my view, should be as wide-ranging as possible. Anyway, recycling is such a small, even minor, aspect of the environment (and hence deserving a specialised forum) that it really doesn't seem a sensible change to me... :square 8) :) :reaper

Not really a change Spiderman . . . there has been a Recycling Forum on this board for three and a half years now, set up at the request of a local group. They don't use it and apparently don't even want to discuss its use. In over three years there have been just 5 posts - that is a post every nine months on average!

I had thought to retain it but broaden the scope. Lots of the posts on here are on environmental issues. I could have - and in retrospect probably should have - quietly removed it, but thought that some - perhaps its instigators - might mourn its passing.

It is too easy for forum admins to be accused of heavy-handedness, particularly in a small community like this . . . but unless there is a more spirited response one way or the other the Recycling forum is going to be deleted to free up some screen real estate!

:) Deleting an unused forum seems fair, Nick. Expanding an unused forum and taking a huge subject area out of the central forum seems daft and unfair! 8) :oftopic :dftt

You must have led a sheltered life if you count this as daft and unfair . . . thanks for the constructive criticism :sigh

Don't be such a drama queen!!

Nick, I was trying to be constructive (about the central forum, the fragmentation of which I was arguing against). Don't feel unappreciated 'cause we all do appreciate all your efforts.

As to Spiderman having a sheltered life......you must be joking... 8) :) .. KAPOOOW! :evillaugh

Nick, can you not just stick it to the top of Seil Chat like you did with the 'troll' thingy?

Nice new emoticons, btw, but nothing suitable for meeces. And let me be the first to wish you all :merryxmas
Don't make me mad. I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.
