and our low standing in Europe
That's the trouble with too many SNP typos....seem to (un-necessarily)have a real chip on their shoulders. Be like us: we're British and proud!.......we've got problems, like everyone else, but there are many things our nation is highly respected for.

Those who form the backbone of Britains armed forces.........the Scots
Are these being the Seaforths, Camerons , Blackwatch, Gordons, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Much has been writtens of your miracle of Dunkirks but I thinks not so much of brave skottish mens that is securing it.

You englishers no show much 'backbones' when you runsaway
and be leaving skots to fights for yous - Is not cannonfodders?

I am to be thinking their stand is being like the men themselves who is spending rest of war as prisoners - a sadly forgots and neglected parts of the history of the Second World War.

hej erikk,

Who you callings de englisch? i was prouds skotchman who was once wering the kilt and sporrans of the dreaded Gordons Highlanders, "Bydand Forever!" and i woulds have been even prouderer to join with the Queens own Highlanders, but i lives in wrong place.

Erk, your history is wrongen. Dunkirk wa s a great VICTORY, and all we leaves is the Frenches where they belongs. Some englishes are captured but this was so that they would tie up valuable nazi resources to looks after them. You see Erk you is notvery good with the cunning plans.

Judging by the following entries whoever CanUsmellthat is he/she appears to have such a large chip on their shoulder that I suspect they may be Welsh. The obvious xenophobia and racist undertones leads me to think that they need to get a life.

QUOTE:

"I'm afraid that abroad I am Scottish to anyone who asks me "what country are you from?" and I’m usually met with nods of approval and even admiration at times." - I think you'll find that other nationalities don't share your xenophobia and this is the reaction which all visitors to their country receive, but. admiration? What planet are you on?

"It's soo time for Scotland to have its own identity and to distance itself from England and her shocking foreign policies." - blimey, you seem to think that Westminster is the (non-existant) English Parliament rather than the Parliament of the UK.

"It was England's colony, the battle of England and "if you think old England’s done." It’s time to face up to her own ego and fuel herself using her own fuel, the bitch " - calling England a bitch sums up a very disturbed mindset.

Calm down NOS, I think smellypants is just trying to addsome spice and draw some nationalists out. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. It is true that Scotland is a wonderful nation and I am proud to be a Scot but I am also proud to be British. I do say I am Scottish when asked where I am from but I think that is more because Iam aware of lot of ill-feeling against the Brits (foreigners seem to think of UK as english) a better reaction is forthcoming to say you are from Scotland. Sad but true. Mr Blair has alot to answer for - but I am very supportive of all our armed forces - just the general cock ups that have ensued. Sadam should have been taken out during the gulf war - that was the big mistake, but cos USA wasn't involved the UK shied away from it. Hopefully Gordie Broon will try and salvage something from the mess. Afterall we have no hope of getting votes in the Eurovision Song Contest until we as a nation become more popular again.

Maybe, we should come up with a 'Make Britain Popular with our neighbours in Europe, again' campaign. What could we do any ideas anyone  :?:

Hey Norvos punk, thank you so much for reiterating my words, I hope they really got under your skin when you were typing them onto the screen, bet you even made a few mistakes when you were furiously bashing buttons.

So, high and mighty un-xenophobic poopy pants, what the deuce is wrong with being from Wales?

Well keshie you'll be happy now sadam is deid and it only cost 600 000 iraqi dead [and counting] you know those invisible people whose country it is. And we britain that is have been bankrupting the armed forces supporting a morally repulsive nation who use the birth place of civilisation as agiant war game, an opportunity to steal oil and a chance to open more branches of macdonalds.

Dont be ashamed if you dont think were capable of being a serious small nation give up admit it, we should be called northern england that would make life easier for you.

:) :) :) Morning, you guys. Just to say I've just heard that Captain Octopus is causing havoc again at the Daily Bugle offices in NY and Mary Jane needs my help so I'm off to Dubhy's and Dubya's favourite country for a while.  Just want to ask you Seilites to behave yourselves while I'm gone. Keep blogging and being controversial until I get back. :) :)  Don't get too xenophopic but do carry on this "national conversation". Personally, I think Scotland will do just fine with independence, not in a narrow separatist way, but as one of a community of friendly nations where the English will be our best mates...Nick, this seems to be the first topic ever to generate 50 replies - and in quite a short time - so do we get a silver hard disc or engraved mousemat? :o :o 8) 8)

If anyone was sad enuf to watch Eurovision Dance contest last nite you would have seenthat UK (both pro dancers) were 2nd bottom. Proves my point - Europe hates the UK. Sooooo political. I didn't watch it but heard through the jungle drums. Tsk tsk - oh and you with the funny name dubh a dubh dubh (3 men in a tub) what'd I do to rattle your cage.
Course all nasty dictators and ethnic cleansers should be relegated to the depths where fire and sulphur boil so, yes, one less in this world is a case for rejoicing. I do not agree and never have, with the way in which innocent people were annhilated indiscriminately by the states and the UK but I was just saying that the forces here and the US have to carry out orders made by the respective governments. If you talk or know anyone from the states you will know that the majority or yankees/conferates are NOT in favour of their sons and daughters, wives and husbands serving in Iraq either and have been and are very anti the Bush administration.
I am just saying that no matter what I shall always support the individual members of our armed forces that strive to protect this country and stand up for other countries. We'd all be speaking in German and sporting tashes and saluting each other in goosesteps if it wasn't for our forces. I dont always agree with the methods or the motives behind our actions as a country but orders are orders.
I would love world peace, who wouldn't, but at what cost to others.

Love you.....
