Cult blog-site?
Who are the 138 new site members from all over the world who seem to have joined the Memberlist already this month (after having just 103 members joining in 4 and a half years, we've had 132 in the last 6 days!)? Real Seil-enthusiast folk or virtual trolls? Are we that interesting? Do we now have a cult following? Why aren't they all sending in messages? C'mon, you 138 rookies, let's be 'avin' you - give us your patter! Otherwise, our site has been invaded by aliens and it's a real job for Spiderman - and for Nick B! KAPOOOOOOW!

Hello Seapiggy, welcome to the brotherhood. OK, here's some stuff for you to give your views on:
1) Why did you join this site?
2) Have you been to Seil?
3) What do you want for Seil's future?
4) If you're a vampire, as you say elsewhere, why are you called a wee Jessie name like "seapiggy"?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Love,
Spidey
P.S. Vampires & werewolves are wooses!

You will find that many of these new members have been zapped back into cyberspace using my own special powers. Unless many of you require some, ahem, enhancements in the, erm, trouser department, their demise will not be greatly mourned.spiderman wrote: Who are the 138 new site members from all over the world who seem to have joined the Memberlist already this month (after having just 103 members joining in 4 and a half years, we've had 132 in the last 6 days!)? Yeah, well you need to get those zapping powers PDQ with the stuff that's appeared overnight.
It's all spidey's fault, he told people to show themselves, and they've certainly done that!
And, no, I didn't watch it, I didn't want to go blind.
Hopefully Nick or Timbo will do the business quickly and get rid of the crap.

Don't make me mad. I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.

Spam, porn and other junk . . .
Now I am back in the executive chair at Balvicar Towers it is a lot easier to keep on top of stuff.
a) I have installed a new power toolkit that allows myself or Timbo to delete huge numbers of spammers in one fell swoop
b) Most spam signups are made by bots (automated software). I am hoping to implement a modificationwhich will prevent automatic signups. Instead of CAPTCHA (asking for visual confirmation of some funny looking letters - which bots can now cope with) it will ask a simple question. Bots signing up willnot be able to cope with this.
Thanks those who PMed me on this.

an american intrusion
and one I hope you won't find annoying.
I found the list today looking for information on Balvicar for family history purposes. I was provided the placename of "Batvicar, Scotland" -- I'm pretty sure this is what was meant
So, do you get a lot of geneaology related posts? (I haven't spotted any, but maybe the evidence has been deleted as spam.) Do you find them annoying or interesting to see where things have spread from there?
Marie

A story about someone who leaves balvicar for the new world because he's a vampire -- i'm thinking camp, of course, but don't know if I have an ability with fictional humor.
I have looked online for information on Seil Island -- part of how I found this forum. Bridge over the Atlantic, House of Trousers, Slate Roof of the World, etc. Very pretty area.

Hmmm...have to lock myself in a room for a week watching who knows what and reading who knows what and drinking who knows what, then, still drinking, lock myself in the room for another week, start writing and see what comes up on the page. Story creation is a rather dynamic process.
Who's the funniest scotsman or scotswoman alive? Film, fiction, what have you?
