Easdale Island fixed link?

Post by Minimum »

I've heard that the STAG appraisal to assess improved access to Easdale Island will start immediately after Easter. I've also been told that the consultation will include Seil residents. Does anyone have any views on the topic?

Does this mean there will be more ferries running to the Island? How will this effect the locals with tourism and the like?

Cheers

Easdale Island

I think there should be a a comprehensive strategy to include a coastal erosion protection scheme for the Island and Ellenabeich.
It seems nobody in Ellenabeich wants to talk about it.

I for one am most certainly against any form of inducting those pesky Easdale Island muggles into our community. Instead I propose scaling down the ferries to once a fortnight and limiting travel to essential journeys only.

Let's get a grip people . . .

Friendly inter-island rivalry is one thing, slagging off your fellow archipelagans is altogether another.

(You've got the Oban Times for that ) :)

Would it not be a bit silly to fix Kilninver bridge ... then replace it! ??

we could take all the bridges away- that would stop the pesky coaches from visiting and that tour bus! Then we could get a hot-air balloon landing site to take us all into oBAN for our trips to tesco - better still maybe tesco's could do home delivery here by light aircraft drops onto designated sites. 8) Golf course for Balvicarites - Highland Arts car park for 'the village' Maybe the new sea-plane could visit and drop us off for our needs. We could build our own hospital and high school and become a totally reclusive 'island'. Or better still just not educate the kids any further than Primary level (not much different to what is on offer now) (that should get some feedback!!!!) Do away with electricity and water and become completely self-suffficient. Develop a barter system. Pay no taxes or taxis.Or maybe we should all just stop whinging and be grateful for any money that the local authorities may want to spend on us. Oh, btw, what do you all think about the new gaelic translations on the road signs :?: - a waste of money or hooray for promoting the dialect.

I keep hoping that double decker will go bankrupt. I always seem to be behind it, and he never pulls over to let you past - which is OK unless you have a dying animal on board and you're trying to get to the vets in time.

The road signs are distracting, and a total waste of money. There are more important things they could have spent the money on - doing a proper and lasting job on filling in the holes in the road for a start. (Or a ticket for me to Hawaii.)

you would think it would go bankrupt as there never seems to be more than 5 people on it, even on a nice day(perhaps that was in February!?!)
And people wonder why there tends to be increased road rage, get these coaches off our roads!! and i agree, money spent on stupid roadsigns that dazzle you at night should be spent on better things like filling in the bloomin potholes caused by the coaches!

A nonny mouse, sorry to hear about the dying animal..did u make it in time?

No, Tink, I didn't, and the dying wasn't pleasant

I later saw the bus parked at the station and was restrained from going over and having a go at the driver. I emailed the company instead and complained, but they never replied.

Glad you agree with me. I have trouble pronouncing the english of some of these places but the gaelic is very troublesome and distracting. I find myself speaking the gaelic outloud in an attempt to sound intelligent, but this has made me make some silly driving errors- like mounting the kerb and running over a sparrow. (it was OK though)
Sorry bout the wee dying animal- the bus co are poo's for not replying and at least sending a sympathy card. As for the double-decker - have you noticed the bus company couldn't afford to get one with a roof. Silly people.
Glad youre back tinkie - thought you'd eloped with peter pan- were you away fighting captain hook and the croc :?:
Are there pot holes in the road :?: :?: I thought they had been designed like that for effect

How was the bus driver supposed to know you had a dying animal on board? Does this logic of "mm I must let traffic past because you never know something/one might be ill/dying/dead" apply to all slow moving heavy vehicular traffic? I am sorry about your personal tragedy but really......

As for Gealic road signs.....well the money could be spent on better things but I fail to see what all the fuss is about......this is part of the gaeltach after all, why are they confusing?

No, you're right (and thanks for being so sympathetic - not) he wasn't to know what was happening in my car with an animal struggling to breath because of being stung in the throat by a wasp, but that's no excuse for bad road manners. Perhaps you'll be the one stuck behind him one day, in a desperate situation and not being able to get past. I can only hope.

Were you born this perverse, controversial and nasty, or did you have to practice it?

Nonny it was tragic what happened , but you can't blame the driver for driving carefully he wouldn't have known and he had passengers to think of.

No, sigh, all I'm saying is that he should pull in occasionally and let the queue of cars etc which are stacked up behind him pass. What happened to my pet really has nothing to do with good road manners. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
