It's a kind of treasure hunt:

A Geocache is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, well over 440,000 geocaches are registered on various websites devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in 222 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
I know there's a cache on Easdale Island, and there are others around Oban.

One on Easdale island? Are you sure you're not on about a pile of wasted European money? It's a strange place after the last ferry...

Sorry to disappoint canUsmellthat ; I don't get it. satnavs are unbelievably accurate. What's the fun in following a satnav's directions right to the 'hidden' spot unless you are listening to the directions in Norwegian? Now if you said you had to navigate by the sun and stars that would be a challenge especially round Seil.
So who stuck a little cache or a trinket box in a hole down the golf course road, just so they could titter when the men came and started digging holes down into the smelly sewers?? mmmmmm?

What did you take from the box and what did you put in?
Were there any suspicious "muggles" around?
