Drilling firms ‘ready to abandon Aberdeen over tax’
Colin Pearson of EY in Aberdeen has warned that Westminster’s latest tax raid on the North Sea could lead to a “scenario that sees a drop-off in the number of new developments”, while GDF Suez E&P UK have made clear their concerns at the costs to the industry.
The move has already been criticised by Taf Powell, Executive Vice President, International Association of Drilling Contractors who has pointed out that new oil rigs could be diverted away from the North Sea – and condemned the “latest example of fiscal instability that undermines claims that the UK is open for business.”
Let's put a stop to this nonsense once and for all on September 18th with a great big
YES and allow a Scottish government to provide the stable tax regime the oil companies need.
