I tried to opt out of the West Coast Review once and discovered it was impossible.

Boarding up your letterbox may be the only option . . . .

At least it is only one sheet of A4 paper in black and white.

The West Coast Review is delivered by Royal Mail, and getting postmen to make discriminate deliveries of unaddressed mail would be beyond their capabilities.
However the Seileachan is delivered by local volunteers and it is feasible that particular addresses could be excluded from their itinerary.
Just how this could be implemented easily is problematic and might be more hassle than any miniscule effect it might have on climate change.
For anyone who felt really strongly about the issue, could I suggest the following course of action -
1) Intimate to Eileen Coulston (Who is responsible for distribution) your desire to have your address eliminated from the delivery.
2) Eileen would then pass on your request to the appropriate volunteer.
3) Hopefully they would take this on board, and delivery would cease.
If this issue is of some concern to others, and there is wide support for the idea, then a note about the possibility of implementing this could be included in a forthcoming Seileachan.
Speaking as Editor, this is a very unusual request - in my tenure, all feedback has been about lack of delivery.

Jim, On behalf of our great local postie, another Jim, I strongly object to your strange slur that he would not be capable of discriminating on deliveries. He most certainly could. But that would be against his job description. Secondly, I also would be very happy only to receive a digital copy of the Seileachan. I suspect than many/most folk would.

To Elaine Rodger - A Local Telephone Directory will give you all the information you need in your search.
To Sandy Mc Seil - There was no slur on our local postie, who does an excellent job.
It was a reflection on the System which discourages local initiative.
And the said Jim is not always the driver of the van who appears on our doorstep- passing on information like this to a relief driver would certainly make llfe rather complicated.
If you feel strongly about Seileachan delivery, follow the advice given to Elaine Rodger
To Nick Bowles - the contributor to the West Coast Review who rose your hackles has ceased to appear in print, so there is no need to consign future copies to the dustbin unread.

NickB, No I will not be joining your non-anonymous chat site. I suspect it will die. Sorry and I hope it doesn't. Will you be big enough to reverse your policy? You have in the past eloquently sung the praises of anonymity and these certainly apply with knobs on in small community websites.
Jimcee, as an editor, you should just word your contributions with a little bit more care.
Och aye the noo. Bye all! Another one bites the dust. :(

The site had all but died anyway.

Pity - if more people had supported it and if fewer had used it to attack me from behind their pseudonyms it might have done better.

I'm sorry you don't have the confidence in your views to put them forward under your real name.

The new site will fulfill a different purpose and be a nicer place.

No, I think the silent majority who viewed and stalked the site but didn't contribute are responsible for its demise. Those who contributed (whom you apparently dislike somewhat) were actually the real supporters of the site. OK, maybe they got at you a wee bit but you deserved some of it and anyway you generally gave back more than you received. The silent majority, if they didn't have the guts to contribute anonymously, will certainly not contribute openly now. A community forum worth its salt and discussing controversial issues seriously needs anonymity, otherwise major social problems can arise. Whatever, I wish you and the site well and, on behalf of all of us departing tonight, thank you for inventing, maintaining and managing Seil Chat.
