Moonraker can change his/her avatar back any time, just by going into Profile at the top of the page.

I would just like to remind any other non-native Seil residents (such as myself) that Seil is currently part of Scotland. We hear a great deal of complaints from down South about immigrants refusing to integrate into the community, not accepting the local culture etc. Perhaps some of us could examine our own efforts to become part of the community. If an Indian migrating to England is expected to become English, then perhaps an Englishman migrating to Scotland should be expected to become Scots? It cuts both ways.

Just a thought.

Aye, but do they WANT to? The Indian or the Englishman. It seems to me if people want to live in particular country they should be prepared to accept it and its social beliefs and culture but there is no reason to expect an Englishman to BECOME Scots, that's just daft. And it shows that we're NOT the same. Why should we be? We don't have to be and we don't have to FIGHT about it. Still and all, this is Scotland and we should all work to the benefit of everyone who chooses to live here.

I think timbo has a fair point. Maybe the English would give a little more if it were offered to them.
You know what they say when in Rome, exactly my point we English have to behave like the locals. Poorly at best bloody awful at worst.

That sounds very bitter. That's a shame. It also begs the obvious question which you can probably figure out yourself..
The odd thing about this subject, to me, is, many locals here now are children/grandchildren of people from the south, aren't they?

If I had one of these wee quote things, it would be (today) 'Don't let the b******* grind you down'

I speak as one who carries all the outward appearance of an English immigrant and I have never found the indigenous inhabitants to be anything other than warm, welcoming and friendly. I cannot sometimes help feeling that any who do not find the same might perhaps look inward for the cause. It is entirely possible that attitudes such as you have expressed might just have a tad to do with it.

Hi Maggie,

Moonraker's flag was temporarily replaced by the saltire because he was a naughty boy. His punishment lasted about two days I recall, after which his original avatar was returned. It may not show up now because some avatars got broken in the forum move, but it is easy to either upload a new one or reinstate your old one from the gallery/users folder via your User Control Panel.

If you want to have one of the smilies as an avatar you can . . . but surely it would be better if you created your own rather than using a forum smiley that others have access to?

The new regime is the same as the old regime, but the rules have been explained to avoid confusion. The soi-disant old regime overlooked the fact that some of you were not used to internet forums. For this the 'old regime' humbly apologises. On occasion non-conventional correctional measures such as messing with peoples' avatars may be resorted to if the 'new regime' deems it expedient, but please rest assured that it will all be done in the best possible taste.
