Longshanks,
I believe, indeed I am absolutely certain, that you know very well that I and nickb are not the same person. You may also know very well that the Herby Dice who apparently posts on for argyll is a troll impersonating me (not for the first time either) for his own small-minded reasons, but what happens on other forums is of little concern to me here. Neither is your apparent little online war with nickb as long as on here you both keep it polite and, ideally, please, relevant.

On this forum I am moderator. I believe that I have posted in a similar vein before, but in case my memory is failing me here it is again. This forum allows anonymous posting. This has considerable advantages in a small community like Seil - people feel free to speak their minds without fear of reprisal offline. The downside is that it also allows people to hide behind a pseudonym and post deliberately provocative and sometimes inflammatory material, but it is my job to police that if necessary - fortunately Seil Chat does not as yet suffer too much from this.

All that is by the by. Although some people post under their real names, many users here value their anonymity and as long as it is not abused this should be respected. I therefore believe that it is unhelpful, unnecessary and unhealthy to speculate in public on the RL identities of posters on this forum. Therefore, I forbid it. Any posts speculating on or revealing (correctly or otherwise is irrelevant) the identities of any poster on this forum will be deleted and the user's posting rights revoked.

This rule is in effect from now, unless NickB as owner of the forum revokes it.

On the contrary, it seems eminently sensible to me. Consider it added to the forum rules.

So, in naming the owner of the site, the Moderator (who might be the same as the owner of the website), you will note well in Latin, has to be the first to be banned?

And you ask whether the Scottish media can be trusted to allow free speech on the independence debate (nicely bringing things back on topic)?

You know guys this is just absolute s***e!

I'm sure there are others who normally post connot be bothered to do so by all the vitriol that's going on here. This is primary school playground antics!

Thank goodness there's been a moderation. To me, there seems to be a determined attempt to deter people from posting opinions on here for fear of ridicule and contempt coming from a minority of posters. Like others, I'm not getting involved, but maybe by this I just have.

Sensible debate please but this post is simply unacceptible
Don't Blame Me - I voted YES!

David Lockyer-Nibbs (deceased) wrote:The reality is that the Yes Campaign has stalled and has . . . nothing to give the media that they want to hear
The second part of that statement certainly seems to be true. Your implication of course is that the media only publish what they want to hear. Thank you for helping me to make my point. Sadly it is all that now remains of the collected wisdom of David Lockyer-Nibs, whose account has been deleted - firstly for stealing my Facebook avatar and using it as their avatar on here. (creepy or what?) - and secondly for being stupid enough to post from the same IP address as another weel-kent troublemaker.

I will refrain from posting the main identity of the forumite in question for now, but should they persist in their trolling activities their main identity will suffer the same fate.

Handsome chap, aren't I?
