A shortlist of ten potential names for the skiff has been put together and will be appearing in this month's Seilachan when it comes out.
You can vote for your first and second choice on the Skiff website HERE
We expect to start the painting in the next couple of weeks and to launch sometime in April. We are hoping to have our first regatta here on Seil with the Mid Argyll and Tighnabruaich boats at the beginning of June (and possibly the Islay boat if they can make it). There will be a ceilidh to raise funds for a road trailer, which we will need to enable us to take the boat to the World Championships in Ullapool in July.

So it's Selkie. Thanks to everyone who took part.
The painting team have now got two coats of primer on the outside of the hull. The boat will be turned back upright for the Sunday team to do a little more filleting round the seat edges, then after perhaps one final sanding session on the inside it is back to the painting team. Meanwhile, Ewan is going to work on some oars and the rudder - he visited Ullapool last weekend and got some inspiration. You can read his post on the Skiff site.
It has been suggested that we should now forge ahead with a logo, teeshirt design, flag etcetera, as these things will take some time to work through. One suggestion has been to put up a (smallish, say £100) award for a successful design via a graphics department such as Glasgow School of Art. However, I am sure we have enough talent on Seil to come up with something really good ourselves. If anyone wants to put a design forward then please leave a comment on the Skiff website.
Now we need to be thinking of rowing teams - Spring is here, time to get in training ! We are planning an open day / regatta for the weekend of 1st-2nd June, with an opportunity to see the boat on the water and try your hand at rowing her. We hope to attract a couple of visiting skiffs as well.
