Re: Oban fireworkd display
I believe thanks to the generosity of NorthWest Marine Ltd the barge in the bay is being used to stage the event. Pyro1 are providing the fireworks whilst NorthWest, although not a sponsor as such, are providing the venue, the vessels and manpower. The ugly duckling will become a swan albeit for a s...

Re: England riots...
The BBC have obviously been listening to you PP - that's why they're still calling them "UK riots."Scotland is no different and it is just tempting fate to suggest that the problem is isolated to England
'We're all in this together' eh?
Re: AV
I'll be voting for AV - it's far from perfect but it IS 'electoral reform' - anything to get rid of the archaic system we alone seem to use. As an aside if AV had it been in place in 1979 I doubt Thatcher would have laid waste to Scotland. ...and you don't not have to rank candidates. If you only wa...

Re: proposed turbine for easdale island
I thought Easdale Island already had a harbour, pontoons and visitors mooring - is that not enough?9 (g) Any vessel shall, if the circumstances of the case admit, avoid anchoring in a narrow channel

Alan Reid - Shame on you
I see our local MP, Alan Reid voted against the introduction of a fuel duty regulator on Monday - despite pre-election promises to the contary. :( Shameful? - A complete sell out or simply representing the views of his constituents? In the meantime here's a quote from alan.reid.org “Instead of crude...

Re: Clachan Wind Farm: Road Issues, etc.
From the link above it seems the good folk of Tiree ane pretty happy about their new community wind turbine - or am I missing something?
As regards the Kilninver bridge - Why view this as an excuse? - It is surely an opportunity to call for the improvement of the Kilninver road infrastructure?

Re: Luing primary closure
Seems criminal to shut an island school which is relatively well subscribed (19 kids) when Shetland council are re-opening the school on Papa Stour for a single child. The reason for that is pretty straightforward - SIC do rather well from Sullom Voe. Infact Shetlanders reap the benefits in many ot...

Attended the NLB and Lifeboat open days on Saturday - most enjoyable and informative - the NLB pipped it with a decent coffee and a Tunnocks caramel wafer
The Seil talks should be interesting - but it's a bit of shame there's no Seil fishermen or shellfish farmers represented.
