Re: Open Letter from Rory Young in today's Oban Times
Well if we’re all just going to enter into a big debate, I’m going to pick up the thread with JO66 again! “Is anyone else on Seil sick of these yellow signs popping up by white settlers close to the bridge??” – JO66 Just accept this is an inappropriate comment and stop trying to dig your way out of ...

Jo 66 this issue is far bigger than either of us so lets move on.

Re: Open Letter from Rory Young in today's Oban Times
Herby, I absolutely agree with your point. This is about a community, where people come from a number of different geographic locations, opposing a commercial development which is not in their collective interests. I was simply highlighting the hypocracy of Jo's comments. I did not mean to infer any...

Re: Open Letter from Rory Young in today's Oban Times
JO66, you should be very careful about what you say. References you have made in previous posts are inappropriate and hypocritical. Your statement that the farm will go to forestry if the windfarm does not go ahead is complete nonsense. Mr Young may have suggested that the Forestry Commission might ...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
* It should be qualified that it appears he broke the partnership in order to put the wind farm up. There are no facts to support this but it does look like this is what his aim was given that he started getting the plans together for the wand farm back in 2008.

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
Rory Young is from Dumfries. His farm down there was originally based around livestock, but he has since added a christmas tree business, with the help of government subsidies, and an egg laying facility for which he also received government funding to the tune of half a million pounds. He does have...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
We should register complaints about the online system not working.
E-mail FAO Fiona Scott:
planning.olandi@argyll-bute.gov.uk
I tried too and it came up with the same error message. We need to make sure all the objections get through. Probably best to send by post.

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
We need to pull together and oppose the planning application for a 50m anemometer (weather mast) on Clachan. There are only 13 days left before the deadline and we need a lot more objections for anything to be stopped. Apparently the Kilmelford community will get most of the income if the windfarm d...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
Maggie, it's an interesting point you make about house prices. You are quite right that locals are being priced out of the market and that generally property prices are too high in the area which is a real issue. However, justifying the wind farm because it would lower property prices is the wrong w...

The Action Group appears perfectly legitimate to me. They actually have the best interests of the community in mind irrespective of who they are. The points you raise are not relevant to the issue at hand.

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
Just had a wee look on the website. What a load of rubbish this Rory Young talks. Justifying the windfarm because the farm isn't making any money?! If he can't trun a profit from the farm with all the subsidies he'll be getting then he must be a pretty poor businessman. We all know the real reason f...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
The only person to benefit from the windfarm on Clachan is Mr Young. The only thing he is interested in is making money. He could not give a hoot about the local people. The incentive he is providing for the community to buy into the scheme and share in the benefit is a joke as it doesn't come close...
