Re: 'New' fish farm in the Sound

Large number of objections on ABC site will at least guarantee the proposed new fish farm gets studied a bit closer ..... I see quite a few familiar local names have commented BUT .. yes a lot of the unfamiliar names come with carbon copy email text .... what alarms me (if correct) is that no eia ha...

Re: Raera rejected

Was there at meeting and among reasons for rejecting raera were things like it it being visible from the Scarba, Lunga & Garvellachs national scenic area ... surely something that'll he a hurdle for any other proposed wind farms too?

Re: RAERA WINDFARM POLL - ARE YOU IN FAVOUR?

wind farms in UK are just there to top up supply right now - to theoretically get a large % of power from wind they'd need to be on every hillside, which won't happen. Over a whole year they save having to burn millions of £'s worth of fossil fuels. In these times of UK having surplus generating cap...

Re: Stop the Digital Economy Bill

yep, have to be careful with photos & images - all too often there's small print that states it's for personal use only on 1 computer, only for non commercial /'not for profit' use .. check ze licence carefully ... likes of creative commons licenced pics are usually OK I think, just give a photo...

Re: RAERA WINDFARM POLL - ARE YOU IN FAVOUR?

I wouldn't read too much into a daily hate anti-windfarm article - ain't a very reliable source of valid information. Not enough wind isn't usually a problem here though - saying that the last few months have been unusually calm, big storms seem to have by-passed us somehow. The actual wind farm doe...

Re: Stop the Digital Economy Bill

I would hope some sort of disclaimer could get around these new rules -- "to the best of our knowledge no copyrighted material is on this website, in the unlikely event you find any please report to site owner" -- or something? So they are going to try to rush through this digital economy ...

Re: A Future Fair For All.

BNP are a very small voice in Scotland, came 10th in 2007 Scottish elections with 1.2% (UKIP 0.4%) .. gives a rough guide.
If you want a protest vote against the big partys vote for an Independent candidate ... Independents have a history of doing well in elections in Argyll & Bute

Re: A Future Fair For All.

You cant trust either Labour or Conservative to do the right thing for the UK -- would do the UK good to get rid of both of them. have to add ... there never was going to be a referendum on the 'european constitution' as it had been rejected before we had a chance to organize a referendum on it ... ...

Re: Luing Causeway

Think I was once a member on here a while back -- decided to have another look mainly due to the luing causeway & raera wind farm issues currently going on. Now a fixed link to Luing has been wanted by many for a long time (lack of it made relatives of mine leave Luing in the '60s) & a bridg...

Re: Luing Causeway

The council seem to be very keen on a causeway as they think it will be a cheap option. Once someone has done some real sums and someone else who knows what they are doing has explained the hydrographic implications I expect they will drop the idea quickly enough. yes , I think that's how things wi...
