Why does this thread appear at the top of the leader board, despite the fact that it is past it's sell by date?
Does the funny heiroglyphic in the left hand column have any bearing on the subject?

Threads which the board Admin think are sufficiently important can be made "sticky", which means they remain at he top of the thread list and don't drift down into obscurity. This thread is likely to remain relevant for some time even if there is no activity so I imagine it will stay stickied. In any case Nick has rather more important things on his mind than this forum so don't expect any change soon.

So, given the speed at which things move politically, it is unlikely that there will be anything significant happening within the next year (at least). Does that mean that we will be stuck with this in the number one slot until there is something fresh to say on the subject? Surely the subject could be reopened with a fresh thread when there is anything significant to report.
As it is, anyone accessing the forum currently and having a quick glance at the most recent post will think that the whole thing has gone defunct. Ban me if you want for daring to raise the issue

Right, you're banned.

Actually, what I am going to do is split this thread now because it has several off-topic posts on it.
