What does AOS mean?

(That's how the field in front of our house is designated according to a copy of the plan I've just been shown - not the same I hasten to add as the one on the web).

Apparently we only have until tomorrow to comment / object to this Local Plan - why the rush to bulldoze it through and why is it so incomprehensible?

It's a pity it's not in 'people speak'. Perhaps it's deliberately confusing.

I have been shown a separate plan for 3 houses to go up next to mine - and the local plan doesn't even include them.

In the entire history of the world no local government has ever said or written anything that ordinary mortals might be remotely able to understand. If we could, they and their cohorts would not be able to ride roughshod over our frightened, quivering bodies and, more importantly, wallets and feelings, with impunity.

This plan is, at best unreasonable and, at worst, a sweet little moneymaker for developers and unscrupulous buyers.

Questions NOT likley to get early answers :?:

Who will be building this ambitious number of houses?
Will prospective buyers be restricted to buying ONLY for permanent, personal occupation?
Will the style and size of these houses be targetted at the people who really need local housing (our young couples/families)?
Have the planned shoreside/sea view locations been influenced more by the likely high value than the environmental impact?
What local (i.e. Argyll and Bute) firms will be involved in the implementation of these plans?

I think a public meeting should be called about this and the councillors/officials concerned required to attend and justify this rape of a beautiful island. They might also be asked what their proposals are relating to upgrading the island's roads when the council seems quite unable to maintain the ones we currently have to suffer.

225 houses will likely equate to (on a nuclear family basis of 2.4 children) 450 extra adults, many independently running cars, and approximately 450 more children trying to get to school - all crossing the historic and tourist attracting "Atlantic Bridge".

The mind boggles - these are the people to whom we have entrusted Argyll and Bute!!!
