ANY UPDATE ?

Stornoway Coastguard picked up a MayDay distress call at 13,00 today – from a fishing boat with one person aboard, somewhere near Easdale island. The message simply said that the boat was ‘going over’.

A search is ongoing for the boat and its one crew member i the sea area between the Isles of Easdale and Kerrera

The marine traffic respondign to the emrgency include The Lord of the Isles, Hebridean Princess, Sir John Murray, Oban Lifeboat and Kingdom of Fife.

As of 17.10, the Lord of the Isles seems to have been released and is heading for Oban some 3 hours behind schedule; but other vessels continue to search and have been joined by S D Moorhen. Tobermory Lifeboat is heading that way down Sound of Mull and an SAR helicopter from HMS Gannet at Prestwick is overflying.

A major search operation is ongoing between Easdale Island and Kerara. Vessels involved appear to be Lord of the Isles, Hebridean Princess, Sir John Murray, Oban Lifeboat and Kingdom of Fife.
Lord of the Isles seems now to have been released and is heading for Oban some 3 hours behind schedule but other vessels continuing search and joined by S D Moorhen. Tobermory Lifeboat is heading that way down Sound of Mull.

Update 18.15: On Marine Traffic AIS we can see the search still going on. Just south of the southern end of the Isle of Kerrera are: The Kingdom of Fife -a cargo boat; the Hebridean Princess, a high-end specialist cruise ship; the Tobermory and Oban lifeboats; the tug, SD Moorhen; law enforcers, the Sir John Murray and the KNM Steil.

The warships, Begium’s BNS Primula, the Netherlands’ HM.RS Luymes and HDMS Esbern Snare are searching in the area around the Garvellachs.

The two law enforcers south of Kerrera with the tug SD Moorhen and the three warships west of the Slate Islands have detached form the ongoing Exercise Joint Warrior to lend assistance.

The Coastguard who are co-ordinating the rescue were in the T&T for coffee at 19.30 and said there was no news.
